observing the holy season of Lent on a journey to the cross

Jesus speaks, acts, and loves. We respond.

So it was for the original disciples and so it is for us.  "We love because he first loves us".

( I John 4:19)

Throughout the Lent season, Fifth Avenue Baptist Church will be offering various options as we journey to the cross with one another.  Explore opportunities for worship, bible studies, discipleship classes and daily scripture readings.

discipleship classes, 6:00 pm

Throughout Lent, Wednesday nights will offer four class options to deepen our discipleship during this holy season:

Practicing Prayer (Chapel): Guided by Richard Foster's classic Prayer: Finding the Heart's True Home, we will explore the rich connection between prayer, everyday life, ad scripture.  Led by Marla Tolley and Alicia Porterfield.

Women's Bible Study (Parlor) This homework driven study of I Timothy will engage participants in a close reading of this pastoral epistle.  Facilitated by Christy Bird.

Current Christianity:  The Call to Relational Ministry (Cornerstone Class, 3rd Floor):  Using Tom Mercer's book,

8 to 15: The World is Smaller Than you Think, this group will examine our call to minister to the people God has strategically placed in our lives. Facilitated by Cyndy Hardwick and Todd Dudley.

Bible Study: Journey to the Cross (Fellowship Hall):  Led by Eric Porterfield, participants will explore the themes of Lent found throughout scripture as we prepare for Holy Week.
