Operational Director
Danielle Cartwright
I started my journey in early childhood education in May 2010 with FABCare, but my passion for working with children began at 14, when I helped my mother with her after-school program and daycare. This experience allowed me to connect with children from infancy to age 5.
I graduated from ACDS in 2012, where I gained foundational skills and completed the West Virginia Infant Toddler course. I earned my associate degree in early childhood education and later graduated from Marshall University with a Regents Bachelor of Preschool Education. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree and plan to complete it by spring 2026.
One of my guiding inspirations comes from Lydia Sigourney: "In early childhood, you may lay the foundation of poverty or riches, industry or idleness, good or evil, by the habits to which you train your children." This quote reflects my belief in the importance of early education and my commitment to fostering positive habits in children.

I started my education journey in an after-school program from August 2009 to January 2014, where I honed my skills in child engagement and management. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Marshall University in 2014, I pursued a career in early childhood education, driven by my passion for working with children.
I joined a child care program focused on early childhood development, working with children aged 3 to 4. In January 2017, I began working at FABCare while pursuing my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. I initially worked in the Crawler Classroom, nurturing infants and toddlers until June 2018, and now I teach four-year-olds. I also work in the Cabell County Pre-K classroom.
Additionally, I completed the Apprenticeship for Child Development Specialist and the West Virginia Infant-Toddler programs, enhancing my skills in caring for young learners. My guiding principle is reflected in Walt Disney's quote: "We keep moving forward, opening new doors...because curiosity keeps leading us down new paths," which captures my commitment to growth in my career and personal life.

I have worked at FAB for 20 years. I first found my love of early childhood in college when I had an undecided major. I then took a part-time job at a child care center back in the early 90s. I fell in love with the early childhood profession. Along with my college hours, I completed the ACDS program in 1992. Being an early childhood educator has brought great joy to my life. I enjoy not only helping a child grow and learn, but I also love being able to show the love of God with each one. On a personal note I am married with two children and in my spare time I enjoy my dogs, football, and needle work.

I started working in childcare in 2014. I have worked with various ages but mostly older infants/younger ones. I love watching some of the little ones develop a personality. I love watching some of the little ones from crawling to taking their first steps.

I began working at FABCare in February 2019 and before coming here I worked at another childcare center for three years. I wasn't sure what kind of work I wanted to do until I became pregnant with my oldest son and started working at a childcare center. I enjoyed watching children discover new things and the excitement in their eyes. I have a certificate for ACDS and I am certified in CPR and First Aid. Alongside work I have two ornery and sweet boys, two cats and a ferret at home.

I've Been with FABCare for four years and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. In April, I received my associate degree in early childhood education at MountWest. I work in childcare because I want to have a positive impact on the lives of children, build relationships with children and fellow caretakers, and have the opportunity to learn and grow.

I officially started my journey with FABCare on October 26, 2016. Working with young children is not just a job for me; it's truly a rewarding experience filled with joy and laughter. Each day, I am welcomed by the bright smiles and warm hugs of the children, which brings immense happiness to my heart.
I hold a Regents Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Marshall University. This educational background has equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for children as they learn and grow.
