welcome to fab kids!

Welcome! Our goal at FAB is to provide a safe, loving, and faith-filled atmosphere for our children. The children's ministry provides age-appropriate Bible studies, worship services, mission opportunities, fellowship events, and other activities to nurture our children as they grow in stature and in faith. We want our children to feel at home in the church, to recognize their brothers and sisters in Christ as family, and to be dedicated servants of Christ their entire lives.

Too Good for drugs

Starting September 6, 2017 through

Nov. 8, 2017,  FAB children will be participating in the the Too Good for Drugs program on Wednesday nights from 6-7 pm.  Questions contact FAB's Children.'s Minister Rachael Gibson

SUNDAY MORNINGS

Children's Sunday School classes are divided by age and include a Bible lesson, a time of prayer, crafts, and other activities.

During the Sunday morning worship service, children in kindergarten through 5th grade come to the front of the sanctuary to hear a special sermon, then exit for their own time of worship. On the first Sunday of each month, children in kindergarten through 5th grade remain in the sanctuary and worship with their parents.

Infants and preschoolers enjoy a lesson, music, crafts, and other age-appropriate activities during the adult worship hour.

SUNDAY NIGHTS

Our children participate in a wide variety of activities on Sunday evenings. Once a month, we promote "Sabbath Sunday," a time for children and youth to remain home and enjoy a day of rest with their families. Check The Columns to find out what's happening this Sunday. Sunday evening activities include:

  • Mission events, with children of all ages joining together to help those in need throughout our community
  • Outreach activities, encouraging children to share Jesus with their friends and family

In the fall, each family in our children’s ministry has the opportunity to “adopt” a homebound member of FAB and visit with that person once a week.

WEDNESDAY NightS

During the school year, children participate in choir and discipleship activities on Wednesday evenings. Children's programming is offered at the same time as our youth small groups and adult Bible study, beginning at 6 p.m. and concluding at 7 p.m. Our nursery is open to provide care for children ages 0-2.

beyond THE COLUMNS

We want our children to feel at home when they are at church, but we also want them to realize the importance of being church outside our building. During the summer, our children and their families gather at different spots throughout our city for Bible study, fellowship, and mission activities. Our annual Vacation Bible School, held each June, is an opportunity for children to introduce their friends and neighbors to our church family. Check The Columns for upcoming mission opportunities.

FAQs

If you have a question that isn't answered below, email info@fifthavenuebaptist.org

My infant is coming to the church nursery for the first time. What should I bring?

Your diaper bag should contain extra clothes, food, and a pacifier if needed. Please label all items to ensure their safe return. If you have any special feeding instructions, let our nursery workers know when you drop off your child. The Fifth Avenue Baptist Church diaper bag tag is our gift to you.

Who are your volunteers?

All of our volunteers have received special training on the protection of children and undergo regular background checks. Only approved volunteers are allowed to care for children at FAB. To further ensure your children's safety, we ask that you sign in your children at our check-in station, noting any allergies and special instructions. Upon check-in, you and your children will receive matching stickers. When you pick up your children, present your sticker to our volunteers.

How are children's classes divided?

Our children are separated by age for some activities, but we also meet frequently as a larger group to encourage children of different ages to grow in faith together. On Sunday mornings, children are divided into the following age groups:

  • Infants ages 0-1
  • Toddlers ages 1-2
(Infants move up to the Toddlers group when they are able to walk.)
  • Toddlers ages 2-3
  • Preschoolers ages 4-5
  • Kindergarten-2nd grade
(Children in kindergarten-2nd grade join us for our sanctuary worship service until the special lesson called Our Future. After Our Future, children exit the sanctuary for Second Hour Worship in the Friendship classroom. Parents pick up their children in the Friendship classroom following the worship service.)
  • 3rd-5th grade
(Children in 3rd-5th grade join us for our sanctuary worship service and our special children's lesson called Our Future. After Our Future on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, children in these grades exit the sanctuary for Second Hour Worship in the College classroom. Parents pick up their children in the College classroom following the worship service.)
